Find the Retirement Advisor Services that Will Help You To Reach Your Goals

What are your retirement goals? Even before you look for retirement advisor services, you need to identify your goals. Maybe you want to be able to travel. Maybe you want to be able to move into an active adult community. Maybe you want to be able to have the money that you need in order to pay for any medical expenses that arise, or you want to have money set aside so that you can help to pay for the education of your grandchildren.

Regardless of what your retirement goals are, you need to find the right retirement advisor services that will help you to reach them. The right retirement advisor services will be provided by a financial advisor who will work with you to achieve your goals. The right retirement advisor services will be provided by someone who will listen to your concerns and who will answer your questions.

But in order to find the right retirement advisor services, you need to know how to ask the right questions. And, therefore, you need a tool that will allow you to better understand your retirement savings and investments and how those accounts will perform over time.

The best tool for learning more about your retirement accounts is the free retirement calculator that you can download at the bottom of this page. With it, you will be able to enter information about the savings accounts that you have - your Individual Retirement Accounts, your annuity accounts or your 401K(s). Similarly, you will be able to enter information about the investments that you have made - the stocks, bonds and mutual funds that you have put your money into.

Once you have entered information about your accounts, you will be able to see how they have performed in the past. You will also be able to see projections for how your savings and investment accounts will perform in the future to see whether or not your savings and investments will allow you to reach your retirement goals.

If it does not appear that they will, even before you seek out retirement advisor services, you will be able to use the calculator to look at the ways in which other investments would perform; you will be able to see how investing in a different mutual fund or in different stocks would affect your retirement income. Though these other investments may be opportunities you have heard about from friends, they may also come from financial advisors: either way, it is important to look into them before moving your money.

The right retirement advisor services will encourage you not only to ask questions but also to determine for yourself whether or not an investment is in your best interest. Because you are looking to find the right retirement advisor services, when you download the free retirement calculator by clicking the red button at the bottom of this page, you will also receive a free consultation with a financial advisor.

Rather than having to go out and interview potential advisors, you will be the one who is contacted. You will have the opportunity to ask the questions that you have and to get the answers that you need - answers that you will be able to verify with the retirement calculator so that you are sure that you are working with the right retirement advisor services for you.

When you work with the right financial advisor, it will be easy to achieve your retirement goals. Get the tools that you need to find the right retirement advisor services; click the red button to download the free retirement calculator and see for yourself.

Analysis of the Economics of Early Social Security Withdrawal

Robert J. Phillips
Chief Retirement Consultant

Deciding whether or not to take the early withdrawal of social security at age 62 can be difficult. If you need this income at 62 to fund your retirement the decision is fairly straightforward. Take it early! On the other hand, if you have another source of revenue to fund your retirement your decision will be primarily based on lifestyle, health and investment preferences.

Several factors can affect your decision. First is your life expectancy. If you are in good health and have a family history of living beyond 90 then waiting for full benefits may be best. Two other factors impact this decision. First and most important is the value of money or your expected return from your investments. If you are using other investments instead of social security to fund your retirement you should use the rate of return of these investments as your value of money. There is another way to look at the value of money. If you do not require the social security money to live, you can invest the distributions for the future. The rate of return of this investment is your value of money. If your investments will make larger returns such as stocks this would favor taking the early withdrawal.

The last factor impacting your decision is inflation. Social security includes an annual adjustment based on inflation. You cannot control this variable but you should be aware of its impact. If future inflation is significant it will favor a later full distribution

Find Out Your Breakeven Age

We developed a calculator to assist in analyzing the impact of taking early benefits at age 62 or waiting for full benefits at age 66 to 67 depending on the year you were born...If you were born in 1960 or later your full benefits will begin at age 67 and your reduction for early benefits at age 62 will be 30%. If you were born between 1946 and 1960 your full benefits begin as early as age 66. We have included a chart that summarizes information.

To use the calculator you need to input your year of birth. You also need to input a value of money up to 10% and a projected inflation adjustment. The calculator analyzes income generated over time from both the early and full benefit investments. It calculates the age at which full social security will catch up and breakeven with the early withdrawal. If you were born before 1960 your breakeven age will be impacted by the year you were born. An early breakeven age favors waiting for full benefits.

The social security calculator is not the final answer whether to take an early withdrawal but it does give you additional economic data to assist in that decision. Ultimately you must balance income, investments and lifestyle to optimize your enjoyment during your retirement years.
